Dark Ponman was added in Beta 39.0. Previous Versions can be found here.
Since Beta 46.0, being part of the Piece Tribe, Dark Ponman has different effects depending if it's played on the left side of your board (slots 1 & 2) or on the right side (slots 3 & 4). As of Beta 54.0, if it's on the left, it will give +1/+1 to the next Piece in your deck. If on the right, you draw a Piece instead.
However, if there's an ally Chessboard when playing this, both effects will activate. This translates into drawing a Piece with +1/+1, which is quite powerful for a solid 3/3/3.
